📋 Table of Contents
1. Overview
Edgion AI is an AI-powered grading system designed to help educators save time on multiple-choice assessments. Instead of grading each student's paper by hand, you can score an entire class in just 3-4 minutes.
The system consists of two modules that work together:
- Grading Sheet Generator – Creates printable answer sheets customized for your test
- Scoring Module – Reads completed answer sheets and generates results
2. What You'll Need
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Printer | Any standard printer (black & white is fine) |
| Scanner or Scanning App | Flatbed scanner, multifunction printer, or mobile scanning app (e.g., Adobe Scan, CamScanner, Microsoft Lens) |
| Web Browser | Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge (latest versions) |
| Edgion AI Account | Free account at edgionai-score.web.app |
| Pencil or Dark Pen | For students to fill in bubbles (dark marks work best) |
3. Step 1: Generate Grading Sheets
First, you'll create custom grading sheets for your test using our Grading Sheet Generator.
🔗 Go to the Grading Sheet Generator
Fill in the Form:
- Subject: Enter your subject name (e.g., "MATH 101", "BIOLOGY CHAPTER 5")
- Number of Questions: Select 5 to 50 questions
- Answer Options: Choose ABC (3 options), ABCD (4 options), or ABCDE (5 options)
- Answer Key ID: Enter a unique 4-digit code (e.g., "1234"). This links the answer sheet to your answer key.
Generate & Print:
- Click "Generate Preview" to see your grading sheet
- Click "Generate PDF" to download or email the PDF
- Print enough copies for your class
4. Step 2: Distribute, Collect & Scan
Distribute to Students:
Hand out the printed grading sheets to your students along with your test questions. Students should:
- Fill in their name, student ID, and other header information
- Fill in the bubbles completely using a pencil or dark pen
- Avoid stray marks, erasures should be clean
Collect & Organize:
After the test, collect all grading sheets. Make sure they are:
- All from the same test (same Answer Key ID)
- Oriented the same direction (not upside down)
- Free of major wrinkles or tears
Scan to PDF:
Scan all the grading sheets into a single multi-page PDF file. You can use:
- Flatbed Scanner: Most office scanners can scan multiple pages to one PDF
- Multifunction Printer: Use the document feeder for faster scanning
- Mobile App: Adobe Scan, CamScanner, or Microsoft Lens can create multi-page PDFs from photos
5. Step 3: Create Your Answer Key
Before scoring, you need to create an answer key in the system so it knows the correct answers.
🔗 Go to the Scoring Module
Create the Answer Key:
- Sign in to your Edgion AI account
- Click the "Create Answer Key" tab
- Enter the same Answer Key ID you used when generating the sheets
- Enter the correct answers for each question (A, B, C, D, or E)
- Click "Save Answer Key"
6. Step 4: Upload & Score
Now you're ready to score your class!
Upload Your PDF:
- In the Scoring Module, go to the "Score Sheets" tab
- Enter the Answer Key ID for this test
- Click "Choose File" and select your scanned PDF
- Click "Upload & Score"
Wait for Processing:
The AI will analyze each page of your PDF. Processing time depends on the number of pages:
- 30 students: ~3-4 minutes
- 40 students: ~4-5 minutes
7. Step 5: Review & Export Results
Once processing is complete, you'll see the results for each student.
Review Results:
The results show:
- Student Name & ID (read from the header)
- Individual Answers (what each student selected)
- Score (number correct out of total)
- Percentage
Export to CSV:
- Click the "Download CSV" button
- Open the CSV file in Excel, Google Sheets, or your gradebook software
- Import grades into your learning management system if needed
Email Results:
You can also email the CSV results directly to yourself or another email address using the email option.
8. Tips for Best Results
For Students:
- Fill bubbles completely – partial fills may not be read correctly
- Use dark pencil or pen – light marks may not be detected
- Erase completely if changing an answer
- Write name and ID clearly in the header area
- Don't make stray marks outside the bubble areas
For Scanning:
- Use 300 DPI resolution
- Ensure sheets are aligned straight (not crooked)
- Check that all pages are included in the PDF
- Make sure scans are clear and not too dark or light
For Best Accuracy:
- Use the official Edgion AI grading sheets (not hand-drawn)
- Keep sheets flat – avoid folding or crumpling
- If a sheet is damaged, consider having the student fill out a new one
9. Common Questions
How many students can I score at once?
You can include up to 40 students in a single PDF. For larger classes, split them into multiple PDF files and score separately.
What if a student's name isn't read correctly?
The header reading feature works best with clearly printed names. You can manually correct any errors in the CSV file after export.
Can I use my own answer sheets?
For best results, use the grading sheets generated by Edgion AI. The system is optimized for our specific format.
What if I make a mistake in the answer key?
You can update your answer key before scoring. If you've already scored, create a corrected answer key and re-upload the PDF.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use secure cloud infrastructure and don't share your data with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How much does it cost?
We offer a free plan with 300 pages per month. Paid plans are available for higher volume. See pricing details.
